Other than a skunky smell in the air, this little blue house on 6th Line Road South in Douro-Dummer Township looks like a family home.
Purple and white flowers scattered in front of a wooden fence.
A brown jungle gym for kids plopped down in front.
But such scenes seem oddly out of place as police lug $6 million worth of marijuana plants found on the property.
Peterborough County OPP say seven large marijuana grow-op sites were found on an 80-acre property in Douro-Dummer Township Thursday. Police say a search warrant was executed where almost $5,976,000 worth of marijuana was found...

Man accused of abduction has his first day in court

I know what you did.
Natalie Tippett mouths those words to Stanley Tippett, her husband of a dozen years, accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old Peterborough girl.
On Thursday, he sits behind a glass window in provincial court, holding his head in his hands.
His mother, Susan Anderson, sits next to her. She heard about her son's charges on the car radio Wednesday afternoon.
"You don't want to believe that you're son is capable of these things, (but) he's lied to me so many times," she says.
Mr. Tippett is charged after a 12-year-old girl was abducted in Peterborough, driven to Courtice and sexually assaulted.

Three parcels of land near the intersection of Water Street and Woodland Drive could be up for sale. The land is third parcel included in Trent University's endowment lands master plan. Don O'Leary, vice-president of administration for the university, says the amount of revenue the sale will bring to Trent is unknown, at this point. "There will be a call for proposals and each proposal will be evaluated to determine the value. It's likely to consist of commercial retail and single-family residences on the property," says Mr. O'Leary, who points out the goal is to create a community around the university.

Red cowgirl hat? Check. Red and black cowgirl boots? Check. Mini skirt? Check. A few things Linda Hennebury made sure to pack before she made the trip from St. John's, Newfoundland to Havelock on Aug. 13 for this year's Havelock Country Jamboree. When asked who's performance she's there to see, Ms Hennenbury looks overwhelmed and laughs. "I love them all. Clint Black, Travis Tritt, it's just a great lineup," the pub owner says, wearing her bright red cowgirl hat. "This is my first time. I love it." Although Ms Hennebury made a farther journey to the festival than others, her attitude was shared by many from Ontario who had been to the festival.
